Just Launched: JustJaredJr.com

We're pleased to announce the launch of JustJaredJr., the new blog from celebrity blogger extraordinaire Just Jared!

Yes, we now know who Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale, and the Jonas Brothers are - quite well, thank you very much. And we even have Taylor Swift's new album playing in the background as we work.

Another One-Pager

We did this one for InfiniteWishes, which just released a new line of necklaces. Took two days total to finish in terms of design and development, which was nice and quick (client gave us immediate greenlight on the design). We hooked it up with BigCartel for simple e-commerce.

Gave Some Shirts Away

We went to the Red + Blue Election Night party at The Bell House in Gowanus. The ladies of Brooklyn Based were kind enough to give us a table to give out the remainder of our Presidential Ballot Tees. They went really fast - all the shirts were gone by the time we finished our third drink. Probably should've had a donation box or something. Anyway, good times!

Just Launched: ILAS at Columbia University

We're extremely happy to announce the website launch for the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) at Columbia University.

We started this project back in July and have been working our butts off to iron out the details and get everything just right. This site is a sweet piece of work, built on Expression Engine and 100% free of any Flash (we opted for jQuery instead). We dare you to check it out on your iPhone - you'll see the site in its entirety.

Check it out at: http://ilas.columbia.edu

Sixpoint in a Bottle? Coming Soon

NYTimes has an article on Sixpoint's plans to open a bottling facility in the near future. We just had a great time serving the Hop Obama and Sweet Action at our party - would be great to find their stuff to keep in the fridge.

Umbrellas Left Behind

For those who came to our party on Saturday, do any of these look familiar to you?  If you'd like to claim one, shoot us an email at awesome@barrelny.com.

A Party We Could Believe In

We're finally recovering Baracktoberfest, a party we held at our office on Saturday in anticipation of the upcoming election.  To fuel the party, we picked up two kegs from Sixpoint Craft Ales in Brooklyn - the Hop Obama and Sweet Action.  We'll spare people from the unflattering pix taken at the party, so here are the ones of getting the office ready (okay, we snuck one in from later in the night). Thanks to everyone who made it out in the rainy weather, and be sure to pick up a Prez Ballot Tee before Nov 4th!

We Love One-Pagers

We just helped launch Astrum Solar's one-page site. We had been working with them on a full site earlier this year but plans changed and they asked for a one-pager to go up for the time being.

We love making one-page websites. Of course, we love the fact that a one-page project is shorter and produces instant results, but what we really get excited about is the challenge of fitting in all the content while keeping the page interesting and not too cluttered. Some things we think about when designing a one-pager: a) how can the text be arranged to establish a hierarchy and to maximize readability; b) how can we use colors/boxes/lines to organize different areas; c) how can the page be more than just a single static info page / what features can make the page more useful?

Here's a collection of some examples of one-page sites. Some suck, but some are pretty good: http://onepagelove.com

Just Launched: Arbelle.com

Currently targeted at wholesale buyers, Arbelle sells argan oil - the stuff that goats in Morocco absolutely love. Argan oil has been gaining popularity as an anti-aging product, so as more and more baby boomers start to feel their skins wrinkle up, be on the lookout for argan oil bottles at your local shopping centers.

Jupiter One Music Video - Nice DIY Action

Brooklyn-based indie band with some nice video skillz and catchy tune. This is what it says on their YouTube page:
"Basically we shot all the stop motion every weekend for 4 months straight in our living room with a digital still camera. All the cutouts are printouts of video frames. All the subway shots were done strictly without permission at 5 in the morning."
